Stress
is the scourge of the modern society.
Inability
to concentrate, bad mood, irritability, anger.
Chronic
fatigue syndrome, depression, neurasthenia, apathy.
There
is an effective and safe solution - a combination of hypericin and guarana extract.
I
recommend in stressful situations to take 300-600 mg of St. John's
Wort extract - standardised extract containing min. 0.3% hypericin, in
combination of 100-200 mg of guarana extract.
Effect
begins after 30-40 minutes, no sedation, quick attainment of calm and
steady mood with increasing concentration and alertness.
The
effect protracts during 3-4 hours. If necessary, it can be taken 2-3
times daily.
Also,
as a symptomatic treatment can be recommended for organic neuroses of
different origin, anxiety, panic attacks, etc.
Hypericin
increases photosensitivity of the skin! Be careful, or do not take
hypericin when you stay under sun.
Few words about these substances
St.
John's Wort (Hypericum perfoliate) used as an
antidepressant
in Europe for centuries.
Hypericin
is one of the active substances of St. John's Wort, together with hyperforin.
However,
hyperforin included in my personal black list, because its effect is
similar to the action of heavy neuroleptics.
Choise
of standardized extract, which contain 0.3% hypericin at least, and
avoid the extracts, which contain 5% of hyperforin.

Guarana is a plant and it is also known as Brazilian Cocoa, Cacao
Brésilien, Guarana Seed Extract, Guaranine, Paullinia cupana, Paullinia
sorbilis, Zoom. and other names.
According to the Biological Magnetic Resonance Data Bank, guaranine (better known as caffeine) is found in guarana, and is identical to caffeine derived from other sources, like coffee, tea, and mate. Guaranine, theine, and mateine are all synonyms for caffeine when the definitions of those words include none of the properties and chemicals of their host plants except caffeine. Natural sources of caffeine contain widely varying mixtures of xanthine alkaloids other than caffeine, including the cardiac stimulants theophylline and theobromine and other substances such as polyphenols, which can form insoluble complexes with caffeine. The main natural phenols found in guarana are (+)-catechin and (-)-epicatechin.
However, it should be noted, that guarana extract has softer and longer effect than caffeine, coffee or its derivatives.
Guarana seeds is traditionally used by the Indians of Amazonia to treat headaches, fever, cramps, as a stimulant, for the prevention of bacterial infections, as a tonic and etc.
